Saving cash isn\u2019t as fun as spending it. But a great way to make saving money as painless as possible is to automate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAutomate your savings\u201d sounds fancy \u2013 but really all you need to do is set up a regular transfer from your transaction account into your savings account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure you set the transfer up <strong>on payday<\/strong> &#8211; that way you don\u2019t get a chance to think about how much money you\u2019re bringing in overall, and get tempted to spend it. Out of sight, out of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Set_a_lil_budget_for_financial_fitness\"><\/span><strong>Set a lil budget for financial fitness<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although budgeting can be painful (even more painful than taxes..), it will help you keep track of everything you\u2019re spending&#8230; and it will highlight areas to cut down on (lookin\u2019 at you 4th-pair-of-Nike-runners, random-oil-diffuser-from-Instagram and new-suitcase -we\u2019ll-never-be-able-to-use).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good rule of thumb is the <strong>50\/30\/20 method<\/strong>: 50% of your after-tax income is for fixed expenses (rent or bills), 30% is for discretionary spending (clothes, nights out \ud83e\udd2a) and 20% is for your savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Check_your_credit_score\"><\/span><strong>Check your credit score<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Stats show that just 7% of Aussies actually know what their credit score is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit scores are like your Uber rating &#8211; but for money.
